Empowering purpose!

Hi everyone!

My name is Melanie Rutgers and I am from South Africa. For as long as I can remember, I have always had a passion to assist in peoples development, even as a child.I would always organise sport events and concerts where children could display their gifts and talents. As a teenager, together with five friends, we started a youth club and continued showcasing and developing ourselves and those around us. As an adult, that continued after college in various ways and if I had to write it all down, this may turn into a book (now that's an idea!).

Unfortunately, I was retrenched from an organisation I worked for, as it ran out of funds due to bad financial management and I found myself without a job and had to re-enter a job market that was already stretched to its capacity. In South Africa, we have 57 million people, 55% of those people are youth and 50% of our conutry's youth are unemployed. To say the least, it was the most challenging time to find oneself without work.

I then started an organisation and literally ran it on rims as it was extremely difficult to access funding. I worked very hard over the next few years and became very ill trying to save my home, raise my children as a single parent and help women become their best. In the process I used up all my savings, lost my home and eventually in 2016, after a while of being horribly sick, was diagnosed with a growth that had positioned itself oustide of my colon. It grew to 35cm and was filled with 6 litres of muck. Finally on the 12th of July 2016, I had the long awaited surgery. They successfully removed the growth, in conjunction, I also underwent a full hysterectomy due to damage from the growth.

Fast forward to to 2018 and all glory to the Heavenly Father, I have fully recovered and ready for once again, helping others and creating opportunities for employment.

I am apealing to you all because from observance you are a very helpful, caring and generous nation. I have to look oustide of our country because opportunities are not so available when you are older.

The amount raised would go toward funding for machinery, equipment and materials. To teach women skills and realise their dreams, including my own.

Thank you so much for taking the time for listening and reading my story and my appeal.
